About Calvary Chapel Ocean Gateway

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.  By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13: 34-35).

We at Calvary Chapel are a community-oriented fellowship of believers in Jesus Christ.  Our deepest desire is to know Christ, and be conformed to His image by the power of the Holy Spirit.  Our goal is to share Christ’s love with the world.

In existence for over 20 years, Calvary Chapel Ocean Gateway has been at its present location at 737 East Main Street, Salisbury, Maryland 21804 since 2004.

About Pastor Don Mitchell

Pastor Don Mitchell is a graduate of Texas Lutheran University.  He received his MS from Texas State University, holds a Certificate from the Center for Biblical Counseling, and was trained as a Billy Graham Association (BGA) Rapid Response Team Chaplain.

Before establishing Calvary Chapel Ocean Gateway, Pastor Mitchell served as a Youth Leader, a Lay Pastor, and a Worship Leader.  He, also, served for years as a volunteer Chaplain at Eastern Correctional Institution (ECI).

Pastor Don was married to his first wife Patricia “Pat” Hipe Mitchell for more than 40 years.  Pat (herself active in Christian service) went home to be with the Lord, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Pastor Don was married to Leah Holloway on October 14, 2023. The two met at Commonwealth Senior Living, where Pastor Don leads a weekly church service and Leah is employed as a geriatric nursing assistant.

Both consider their personal relationship with Jesus to be the most important thing in their lives, and look forward to God’s plans for them in ministry as a married couple.
